Polar Bears
These are our exclusive Friday sessions for the ‘rising fives’ (children who will start school the next academic year). These sessions are more structured and focus on key skills that equip children for learning at school (e.g. phonics, numeracy, fine motor skills, listening), as well as building on confidence and social skills. The older children at Benger Bears also benefit from our close links with Sutton Benger school, visiting for events and meeting the teachers. If children are going on to other local schools we also work to arrange smooth transitions for them. Polar Bears has a proven record of preparing children really well for their onward journeys into school, as well as helping to cement the friendships they have with their peers. |
Outdoor ExplorersThese are regular, outdoor sessions employing the principles and resources of ‘Forest School’. They are held on rotating days so that all children can enjoy them, and we inform parents and carers in advance of the planned session dates.
Children can get messy, get lots of exercise and fresh air and learn as they explore our wonderful recreation ground and nearby woods. Typical activities are den building, making mud kitchens, going on nature scavenger hunts, mini-beast detection, bark rubbings, pond dipping and many more. |
